A Canadian actress, who came out as gay last year at a pro-LGBT conference organized by the Human Rights Campaign during the downfall of her career, got into a heated back-and-forth debate with Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz at the Iowa State Fair on Friday.
Page, dressed in disguise , tried to pressure Ted Cruz for his thoughts on the false claim of “people getting fired just for being gay or trans.”
Cruz responded that in all actuality it is the other way around. It is the Christians that are being persecuted in the wake of the Supreme Court’s June ruling, which mandated same-sex marriage a constitutional right and thus making people unequal.
Cruz reminded Page of the treatment of homosexuals by ISIS and Iran, which Page acknowledged, before arguing Christians are using violence against gay people in Jamaica. Cruz then reprimanded the actress for not understanding the contrast between disagreeing and murdering people in public.
Ellen Page starred in 2007’s Juno and years later, when her ratings seemed to drop in 2014, she decided to “come out” as a lesbian.
Is there anything else you wish Cruz would have said? What about Page? Let us know in the comment section below.
