An off-duty corrections officer fatally shot a man who was trying to rob him of his motorcycle this past Saturday night in Queens.
According to CBS2’s Scott Rapoport, five men were hanging out around 10:30 p.m. outside what police describe as a motorcycle social club at Rockaway Boulevard and 95th Avenue in Jamaica.
That’s when the group was approached by a man wearing a multicolored bandana covering his face and carrying a gun.
The man attempting the armed robbery then demanded the keys to their motorcycles.
That’s when the correctional officer, who was one of the men in the group, shot the suspect twice in the head, killing him.
Police said they will not release the 55-year-old would be robbers name until his family has been notified.
The loaded .380-caliber gun in which the robber was using was recovered at the scene according to the cops.
The name of the corrections officer has not been released either.
