Corey Gordon, 28, has been accused of brutally beating and raping his girlfriend’s toddler son, Khyese Anthony Coach, to death, according to the Inquisitr.
Monday, Feb. 9, Gordon’s girlfriend, Chantel Haye, started a new job, so the child was left in his care. The child was reportedly dropped off around 5:30 a.m.
When Gordon picked up Haye from work Monday afternoon, she noticed something was wrong with Khyese, who was cold to the touch, and demanded that Gordon take her to the hospital.
“I kept asking him, ‘What did you do? What did you do?'” Haye told Local 10 News.
Khyese’s aunt, Penny Williams, said the boy “had marks on his face, both sides of his face. His lip was busted, and he was just stretched out.”
Gordon claimed that the victim accidentally defecated on a sofa and, according to official records, Gordon then boxed and slapped the child. The child also fell down the stairs.
Once the three arrived at Coral Springs Medical Center, Gordon fled the area.
Doctors found bruises on the victim’s chest, stomach, legs and head. Nurses also found blood in his diaper and injuries consistent to that of sexual abuse.
According to WSVN, Gawane Grant, Gordon’s attorney, said the claims that the victim was sexually abused are without merit.
“Clearly any allegation to sexual abuse [is] clearly without any merit in this particular case,” he said. “Mr. Gordon has had a very loving relationship with this child.”
Doctors believe Khyese had been dead for at least four hours.
The Department of Children and Families had been investigating the family since December 2014 after someone reported that the baby was “always crying and had marks that resembled belt marks.”
There were also concerns of domestic violence in the home, but the reports were closed, as there were no indicators for physical injury.
