Barack Obama, a.k.a. Mr. Pen and Phone, has now decided to give federal employees a holiday present a little early.  He issued an executive order Friday giving them the day after Christmas off making Dec. 26th a holiday according to the Washington Post.

“All executive branch departments and agencies of the Federal Government shall be closed and their employees excused from duty on Friday, December 26, 2014, the day after Christmas Day,” the order says. Exceptions may be made “for reasons of national security, defense, or other public need.”

According to WFTV9 , the order means all federal employees will be given the day off and all federal agencies will be closed on that day.

The order states, “All executive branch departments and agencies of the Federal Government shall be closed and their employees excused from duty on Friday, December 26, 2014, the day after Christmas Day.”

According to the order, exceptions can be made “for reasons of national security, defense, or other public need.”

The decision comes not long after an online White House petition was started asking for the day to be designated a federal holiday.
