A baby boy born with four arms and four legs has been nicknamed “God Boy” and drawn thousands of excited people to the city of Baruipur in eastern India.
The boy’s family is overjoyed because the birth defect makes him resemble a Hindu god, according to the Daily Mail.
Crowds in India are flocking to see a boy thought to be a deity after he was born with four arms and four legs
Police in the town of Baruipur in West Bengal state say they are struggling to control the crowds, as hundreds of people cry in the streets and try to see the child.
“When he first came out we couldn’t believe it,” an unnamed relative told local TV.
“The nurses said he was badly deformed but I could see that this was a sign from God.
“In fact, this is a miracle, its God’s baby. Indian god’s have extra limbs just like this.”
Multiple limbs are common among Hindu deities, and the baby has been named God Boy.
Chukka Rao, 67, from a nearby village said he had seen a picture of the boy, who was a wonder.
“This is truly the son of the Hindu God Brahma, who also has four arms and four legs.”
A police spokesman said: “This is a freak baby and it is tragic, there is nothing godly about him at all. But the crowds are going berserk and clamouring to see the child.
