CHICAGO (PIX11) — A teenage boy was shot and killed while recording a fight on his cell phone.
Chicago Police say Anthony Diaz, 13, was shot multiple times just after 10:30 p.m. Sunday on West Grand Avenue in the Belmont Central neighborhood.
Diaz’ stepfather, Ralph Otero, told police the teen snuck out of the house with his sisters, ages 15 and 17, because they wanted to confront someone about a post on Facebook.
Police say Anthony Diaz was shot in the chest as he was walking with a group. Diaz’s sister says the teen wanted to back her up in a fight with some other girls over a Facebook post.
“We came, we fought. They just got out of hand. They jumped all of us and they ended up shooting my brother,” said Jennifer Sosa, the victim’s sister.
Police say the victim recorded the altercation on a cell phone, but it’s not clear what the recording shows.
